Why is the Sankofa-Lingua Academy?

Many in the African diaspora grow multilingual with German and Swiss German at school and at work. Meanwhile, English, French or Portuguese are spoken at home or in the media. But the african language of grandparents often stays on track.

Sankofa Lingua emerged from the belief that African languages deserve a firm place. We teach native speakers from different regions of the continent. 

What's the name of Sankofa?

The Sankofa-Lingua Academy bears a name with history. It comes from the philosophy of the Akan in Ghana and partly the Ivory Coast. Sankofa means as much as: Go back and get what you forgot! 

For us, Sankofa is more than just a name. It's the idea behind everything we do. Language is nothing that must be lost. It can be retrieved, learn new and pass on to the next generation.

What happens if I can't take part in the course?

If for any reason you cannot participate in the course you have booked, please contact us as soon as possible to find a solution.

How are teachers selected?

All teachers at Sankofa are native speakers who were thoroughly examined by us in advance for their professional suitability, their pedagogical concept and compliance with the values of Sankofa. Most of our teachers have known for several years and they are permanent members of the Sankofa family.

What payment options are offered?

We strive to offer you the payment methods you feel most comfortable with. Currently you can pay in the following ways:

Is it possible to pay in rates?

We do not offer direct rate payments. However, you have the possibility to pay the course fee in monthly rates via Paypal or Klarna. Please understand that we have no influence on the granting of installments by Paypal or Klarna.

How can I check if my previous knowledge is sufficient for a postgraduate course?

If you are unsure about your language level, you can contact us to clarify your language level together. We will soon offer you an online classification test.
